My Learning Philosophy
Start with people. Stay curious. Design for growth.
I believe meaningful learning begins with curiosity and connection. Whether I'm designing a learning experience, facilitating a conversation, or exploring something new in my own life, I'm drawn to opportunities that challenge assumptions, encourage creativity, and broaden perspectives.
My approach to learning is shaped by three guiding principles:
People first
Every meaningful learning experience begins with understanding the people it's designed for. Their needs, motivations, experiences, and environments should shape the learning journey.
Curiosity and inquiry
Good design requires asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions, experimenting with ideas, and remaining open to different perspectives.
Growth and participation
Learning should extend beyond simply acquiring information. I strive to create experiences that encourage participation, reflection, connection, and the confidence to put new knowledge into practice.
The Art of Connection
My enthusiasm for learning extends beyond my professional work and into the things I love most: art, food, travel, and bringing people together. Over the years, I've created spaces for connection and shared discovery, from a cookbook club exploring culinary traditions through shared meals to a virtual arts club during the pandemic. What began as personal interests became opportunities to build community, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. These experiences remind me that meaningful learning doesn't always require a formal structure, just curiosity, connection, and a willingness to explore.
Where Curiosity Leads
These days, some of my favorite lessons on learning come from my son. Watching him discover the world with endless curiosity, creativity, and determination reminds me that learning can be messy, playful, surprising, and wonderfully nonlinear. Motherhood has encouraged me to slow down, embrace experimentation, and appreciate the process as much as the outcome. These everyday moments continue to shape how I approach learning design: with a sense of wonder, openness to new possibilities, and a belief that growth happens when people have the space and encouragement to explore, create, and discover for themselves.
